Every teen's best friend should be their concealer. For those random breakouts and pimples that always decide to pop up when there's something special going on! Well, today I'll be sharing with you guys a few of my concealers and hopefully be able to share some more with you as my blog grows. So the 3 concealers I currently have in my makeup collection are: Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer, NYX Full Coverage Concealer and Benefit Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer
swatch order from left to right: maybelline mineral power (2-3 light), nyx full coverage (03 light) & benefit boi-ing industrial strength (02)
Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer:
Price: $6.00 CAD
Location: Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart (check your local drugstores)
Coverage: Medium to Full (buildable coverage)
Claims: "healthy perfecting coverage with micro-minerals & does not feel heavy or cake on the skin"
Review: this concealer is great for concealing hyper-pigmentation, dark spots or any scars left behind. I personally would not use this concealer to cover pimples because it is in a liquid form, it can slip and slide around during the day, especially if you are active. I find this concealer very thick and cakey when I apply it underneath my eyes so I would not recommend this for covering dark under eyes. It blends very nicely and gives you a flawless coverage if used sparingly (the less the better)
Overall: ★★★☆☆ 3/5 stars
NYX Full Coverage Concealer:
Price: $10.99 CAD
Location: Pharma Plus/Rexall (check your local drugstores or online)
Coverage: Medium to Full
Claims: "provides smooth, long lasting coverage so you can pretend the world concealer doesn't exist in your dictionary. light weight & crease free"
Review: this concealer is great for spot treating and covering those stubborn acne that stand out the most. Although the concealer claims to be "light weight & crease free" it is not at all light weight and crease free, it is in fact the complete opposite. It is extremely greasy feeling and settled into all my fine lines under my eyes. I gave this a try for covering dark under eye and it disappointed me. Within 30 minutes of applying the concealer under my eyes, it instantly started to crease and slide around my face. It made my under eye area cakey and felt like I was applying oil underneath my eye. It was not at all enjoyable to wear and I was upset to find out that I paid around $10.99 for a concealer that did nothing BUT crease. I now use this concealer to hide stubborn pimples but I need to set it with powder constantly to make sure it does not slide around my face.
Overall: ★☆☆☆☆ 1/5 stars
Benefit Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer:
Price: $26.00 CAD
Location: Sephora & Some Shoppers Drug Mart
Coverage: Medium to Full
Claims: "camouflages dark circles, shadows, and discoloration without creasing or fading"
Review: this concealer does amazing wonders for my dark under eye. It is in fact an industrial strength concealer that covers just about everything. It does have a cakey feeling to it but is some what light weight. The colour range is a bit off since I did not get it professionally matched to my skin. I had grabbed the colour 02 light/medium but is way too dark for me but the 01 light is way too light for me. It conceals my under eye circles very well and does not crease whatsoever during the day. But I always apply setting powder underneath my eyes as you should with any concealer used underneath your eyes. Don't skip this step, it's very important! Using this concealer with your finger is the best way to apply it in my opinion since it warms up the concealer and blends beautifully into your skin. I also use this concealer to spot conceal and it gets the job done. This is one of the best concealers I've used before and will do until I find another I like.
